There's a Baby Boom at Paulsen

We love to have visitors here at Paulsen Marketing. Stop by any time; the coffee is always on. But let me warn you first. There must be something in the water that has caused our recent baby boom. We’ve had three new additions to the Paulsen family in just the last 90 days!

Lisa Leuning, Digital Project Manager; Tara Young, Digital Services Coordinator; and Heather Covrig, Account Executive; have all given birth this summer. We had a get- together here at the agency yesterday to officially welcome the newborns to Paulsen.

Last month, we had the first annual Paulsen Wide Open Golf Tournament. Following the golf event we had a cook-out which included all agency staff and their families. What an eye-opener that was! I could not believe the number of young children we now have within the agency family. But then do the math: 31 employees, 2.3 children per family, and pretty soon you have quite a crowd of youngsters, ranging in age from 3 weeks to 15 years.

And then it hit me. Paulsen Marketing—and our clients—is putting a lot of shoes on lots of little feet. Suddenly, taking care of clients with a high degree of excellence and growing our business with existing clients and adding new ones as possible, takes on a whole new meaning. It’s a sobering thought, and one that creates a whole new incentive program to manage carefully and make good choices that positively affect our business.

But then, this is really nothing new. Part of the “secret sauce” at Paulsen Marketing is our 59-year tradition of “family first.” Much of the success we’ve enjoyed here at Paulsen is directly attributed to the importance we place on family.

So keep the Baby Boom going! We’ll eagerly welcome each and every newcomer to our family here at Paulsen Marketing, and do our best to keep the shoe stores in business.

An Invitation… And a Promise

The “Rites of Spring” are all around us including the NCAA basketball tournament, geese migrating northward and trucks laden with bags of seed traveling country roads in anticipation of the planting season now upon us.

I’d like to add one more item to the above list that is especially prevalent this spring: soon-to-be-college graduates seeking a job. This spring I’ve received an inordinate number of cover letters, resumes, letters of reference and voice mails from hopeful young marketing and advertising majors seeking their first career opportunity.

From the conversations I’ve had, I gather it’s a very, very tough...

Random Thoughts on an October Day

I know, I know, it’s been way too long since I last updated my “On the Road” blog. Truth is, I’ve been “On the Road” almost the entire month of September.

It was indeed a very busy month: representing a client at the Husker Harvest Show in Grand Island, attending an important new business presentation, meeting the new president of a long-time client, touring the lead fulfillment call center for another client, attending the World Dairy Expo in Madison, WI and joining the entire agency (including families) for a weekend of baseball and Worlds of Fun in Kansas City, plus a day at the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha. All of these activities...
