It’s National Agriculture Week—Have You Thanked a Farmer?

Since we’re an agency that specializes in agri-marketing, it’s only appropriate that that we play an active role in promoting National Agriculture Week. We’ve done just that with our involvement in two special Ag Week promotions.

AG Day PosterFirst, our agency partnered with the Washington Pavilion here in Sioux Falls to create the advertising and promotional materials for their Ag Day Celebration, a day-long event at the Pavilion with exhibitors, free lunch and lots of educational kid’s activities promoting the importance of agriculture. Take a look at www.pavilionagday.org.

Next, we worked with the South Dakota Corn Utilization Council and Culver’s Restaurants to create and implement a statewide, week-long promotional campaign titled “Thank a Farmer.” Additional sponsors included the South Dakota Soybean Research and Promotion Council, the South Dakota Beef Industry Council, the South Dakota Pork Producers Council, the South Dakota Wheat Commission and the Midwest Dairy Association.

Through this joint effort we created newspaper ads and radio spots that ran throughout the entire state, as well as point of purchase materials and an informational hand-out piece with interesting and fun “farm facts” that was distributed with each food order at nine Culver’s Restaurant locations in South Dakota.

Culver’s really stepped up to salute our farmers in a big way by giving away a free dish of frozen custard to every customer on Monday, March 15 as their contribution and kick-off to National Agriculture Week. I stopped by our local Culver’s to see how things were going, and I have to say that I was very impressed with the traffic we had generated for this special promotion. Everyone seemed to be enjoying the free frozen custard!

I’d like to mention a few Paulsenites for their efforts in both of these Ag Day promotions. Jordin Mueller, Jon Marohl, Danita Tegethoff, Brad Edwards and Katie Levitt did a great job in assisting the Washington Pavilion staff in preparing for their event.

Mindy Dale, Janet Andersen, Katie Levitt, Jon Marohl, Mike Dowling, Sarah Wolfswinkel and Kristi Moss deserve credit for a job well done on the “Thank a Farmer” campaign.

Special thanks go to Teddi Mueller of the South Dakota Corn Utilization Council and the Council staff for their communication and coordination efforts that made this a successful promotion. We appreciate the opportunity to work with you!
