Paulsen Marketing Helps Show Appreciation to Area Farmers

It’s August. It’s hot. It must be Fair week!

One of the highlights of the Sioux Empire Fair is Farmer Appreciation Day, sponsored by the Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce. It’s our community’s way of saying ‘thank you’ to all farm families in the region for the important role they play in our lives and our local economy.

For the past 15 years, Paulsen Marketing has joined a host of other area businesses in co-sponsoring this annual event.

In addition to our financial support, we have a team of Paulsen staff members who volunteer their services each year by working serving lines, assisting guests and fulfilling clean-up duties.

The following photos show our Farmer Appreciation Team in action. Everyone agreed that, once again, Farmer Appreciation Day fell on the hottest, most humid day of the entire year.

Some things never change.

Client Service Manager Joan Meyers and Media Director Kristi Moss advise their working teammates, “It’s too darn hot to work this hard—we’ll be in the beer garden!”

Joan Meyers demonstrates to her working associates how hot it really is, and why she and Kristi should go to the beer garden.

World Ag Expo Lives Up to Its Name

I enjoyed the opportunity to attend the World Ag Expo in Tulare, CA last week and have to say that this show certainly lives up to its name with acres of exhibits, a world-class dairy industry presence and a large number of international visitors.

Paulsen Account Executive Heather Covrig joined me for the two-day visit to the show. Several of her clients were exhibiting including Grain States Soya (Soy Best), Ecolab and POET Nutrition.

Each of these clients reported lots of booth traffic with dairy producers much more optimistic than just one year ago. The outlook is good for improved profitability for the dairy industry—none too soon after a...

Always Good to See Old Friends

Just back from the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) annual meeting and trade show in San Antonio. This convention is one of my favorites and always an enjoyable time. I had an opportunity to meet with so many friends, clients and media representatives during my three-day visit. It was a nice break from the unusually hard winter we’re experiencing in the North Central states.

Everyone agrees that the business outlook is better than that of one year ago, but there still seems to be plenty of room for improvement. Many of my media friends note that advertisers are making shorter-term commitments—quarter by quarter, rather than annual...

2009 Farm Progress Show—Bigger and Better than Ever

Just returned from spending a week in Decatur, IL, site of the 2009 Farm Progress Show, and what a show it was! Absolutely beautiful weather and huge crowds made this show a tremendous success for just about every exhibitor that I talked to.

Paulsen Marketing assisted Growth Energy with their premier appearance at the show. Growth Energy (www.growthenergy.org) is a group that was launched last November, committed to the promise of agriculture and growing this country’s economy through cleaner, greener energy.

Growth Energy’s objective in participating in the Farm Progress Show was to introduce itself to America’s farmers and seek members...

Tall Corn and Farm Shows

I spent yesterday on the road to a quick client meeting in Minneapolis.  I could not believe the condition and vitality of the corn and soybean crops between Sioux Falls and the Twin Cities.  Eastern South Dakota and western Minnesota have been richly blessed with very timely and generous rains during the past 4-6 weeks.  As a result, the corn is taller for the last week in July than I’ve ever seen it before.  It’s just starting to tassle and the experts tell me we need more “degree days” or hot, humid weather during this critical stage.   It certainly looks like we’re heading toward outstanding yields for both corn and soybeans...
